For more than three decades, Amita Vadlamudi has been part of the computer systems field, serving as an analyst and computer systems engineer with a major financial services company for much of that time. She entered the field after receiving a bachelor's degree from Saint Peter's College in computer science, and worked on several types of platforms. Some of the most common computer systems she worked with include UNIX, VM/ESA, VM: Manger Suite, COBOL, Bookmanager, and PL/I. Amita Vadlamudi is also intimately familiar with recovery software, and over the course of her career provided considerable support for backup and recovery activities.

Amita Vadlamudi has a variety of hobbies outside of her professional interests, including both physically and mentally challenging activities. Sh enjoys fitness and exercise, including outdoor activities and swimming, and is interested in nature and the environment as well. She also likes to study topics like American history, ancient civilizations, and astronomy, and is interested in the benefits of volunteerism.
