Abes of Maine

Abes of Maine was founded in 1979 in Old Orchard Beach, near Portland, Maine, as a summer shop. The shop offered a wide variety of popular cameras and electronics. Soon it became one of the most popular stores for the photographers of that time.

In 1981, this store became a more permanent fixture. It carried primarily cameras and electronics. They started advertising in some of the most popular photography national magazines. They were in Popular Photography, Modern Photography and Shutterbug, among others. At that time, the store’s name was only “Abes”. In the ads, to inform the customers about their location, a small addition beneath their name, with the words "of Maine" was used.

Soon they came to be known among the customers “Abes of Maine”. Abes of Maine moved to a new and more convenient location - Brooklyn, New York, five years later. They decided to keep their name after the relocation, because of its hard-earned reputation. Und er the name “Abes of Maine” they were famous for their competent sales team, helpful customer service, and great prices. The showroom in Brooklyn was bigger and more accessible. That encouraged even more people to visit the store.

The first online store of Abes of Maine was launched back in 1999.

Few years later, Abes of Maine expanded its line of products. They added all sorts of electronics. Abes of Maine is recognizable as one of the most honest and reliable photo and electronic retailers. The store cultivates an outstanding customer service, since its opening in 1979. Their top priority are customers and their satisfaction. Currently, they operate a state-of-the-art showroom and warehouse out of 1805 Lower Road in Linden, NJ.
