Jaguar Land Rover - Displays Hardware Engineer

Displays Hardware Engineer, May 2020 - present

Worked collaboratively with department leads to define future displays strategy, authored specifications and requirements to define the aligned strategy, before leading the sourcing for displays with new technology. 

  • Developed and defined future Displays strategy, working with key stakeholders and department leads 
  • Presented Commodity Strategy Paper at Director level, achieving buy in and praise for communication and presentation. 
  • Authored the specifications, defining wants and needs, and how to measure and test
  • Created sourcing packs while leading a team of 3 for a full suite of Displays  
  • Worked on understanding the benefits and limitations of a new technology, and risk-assessed the implications of introducing the technology
  • Became knowledge holder for the team for Functional Safety and ISO 26262, and developed strong relationship with all key FuSa contacts across the business

Jaguar Land Rover - Swichgear Component Engineer

Switchgear Component Owner, May 2018 - May 2020

Took ownership for a number of switchgear components, managing multiple suppliers to deliver a diverse range of switchgear onto all vehicle lines.

  • Managed 4 suppliers simultaneously, to deliver 18 products across all vehicles. 
  • Resolved poka yoke issues arising from carryover implementation
  • Authored a Commodity Strategy Paper for Window Lift Switches; including review and buy-in from stakeholders in quality and purchasing, as well as buy-in from team Senior Manager
  • Trained in FMEA to become the key point of contact within the Department for all FMEA related activities
  • Led an improvement program to create generic FMEAs to cover all switchgear products, working with other engineers to gather Quality History data. Resulting in User Controls area fully passing external FMEA audit with no comments. 


Jaguar Land Rover - Graduate Engineer

Localisation Lead Engineer, Sep 2017 - May 2018

Took ownership of localisation for infotainment; covering translations, keyboards and fonts, to deliver new features and customer feedback

  • Delivered a full-scale audit of all the translations, to ensure consistency both within the system and with adjacent teams
  • Worked with satellite office in the US to support a workstream to improve language strategy for the new Infotainment system
  • Applied customer feedback to create a new solution for Japanese keyboards for the future infotainment design
  • Managed a budget of $100k/year for translations

Side Panel Feature/System Owner, Dec 2015 - Nov 2016

Took ownership for a unique feature, taking it from initial implementation to an early adopter of over-the-air functionality. 

  • Delivered feature successfully across all vehicle lines 
  • Worked with Connected Infotainment department to define architecture and functionality to adopt over-the-air for the first Core NGI feature
  • Worked closely with Fleet Management System to improve team understanding of the feedback required in order to fix issues; led to a 20% decrease over 6 months in Side Panel-related Field Vehicle issue reports. 

HMI Engineer, Sep 2015 - Dec 2015

Designed UI/UX for the new in-car infotainment system, working on multiple features

  • Benchmarked competitor OEM products and consumer electronics to understand best in class implementations
  • Worked with stakeholders to create user flows to understand scope of features
  • Created and developed wireframes at various stages of the feature lifecycle from creation to delivery for several features such as Timed Charging, Language Settings, and Keyboards for the Next Generation Infotainment system.

  • Observed how a large company operates in terms of their computing infrastructure
  • Shadowed and helped contribute to database SQL query constructions
  • Spent a week with the sysadmins, writing shell scripts for practical use by the company

'Headstart' Marine Engineering Course, July 2011

1 week taster course in marine engineering 

  • Worked in groups doing a week long project to design an optimal tidal turbine
  • Both theory and practical design, using modelling software, then building a model that was then tested
