Project & Assignment


Prediction of electricity consumption for Hsinchu Science Industrial Park

  •          Collected tons of data from 2016 to 2020 from the government’s website and preprocessed it as a dataframe using Python to predict the 2021 electricity consumption of HSIP.
  •          Normalized the data to obtain the seasonal trends and visualized the data to gain more insight using the Statsmodel API.
  •          Built a model using scikit-learn and the Xgboost model, considering different combinations of features and finding the best model regarding the data.
  •           Improved the model RMSE from 10.24 to 1.88 using skills of data analysis, data processing and parameter adjustment.

Movie Recommendation System

  • Constructed an AI model whose input is some favorite movie and output is recommendation of top N movie.
  • Implemented the KNN (k-nearest-neighbor) method as our baseline.
  • Designed a model using item-based collaborative filtering.
  • Improved the model using the ALS (Alternating Least Square) algorithm.
  • Increased the efficiency of the model  by 15.9compared to the baseline model.

Bulletin Board System Server 

  • Implemented a single TCP/UDP process server and use select API to handle multiple connections.
  • Designed function of content filtering and blacklist into the BBS server.
  • Defined customized data structure and function to allow users to read the chat history explicitly.
  • Built up the environment in the LINUX OS using docker to create a dockerfile and build up the docker image.

Movie ticket booking System

  • Designed and implemented the Database using MySQL as the backend, enabling ticket records to be stored persistently in a database.
  • Created a website using HTML, CSS, JavaScript in frontend to allow users to easily book tickets and managers to easily delete and add movies to the system.
  • Integrated the frontend and backend and synchronized the records using PHP and JS.
  • Manipulated data using MySQL instructions effectively.
