Aryea Flohr

Aryea Flohr grew up in New York City and was interested in capturing his surroundings on paper from a young age. As a teenager, he progressed into putting his art on canvas in acrylics, then moving to oils. He studied at New York University, from where he received his B.F.A. in Fine Arts.

Aryea Flohr works in his studio, capturing the world around him with rich painting. He is known for his photorealism style, which employs strong diagonals and reflected surfaces to show vibrant scenes of movement. Vibrant color fills every aspect of Aryea's paintings - they have become more detail oriented over time and he has moved toward landscaping since 2007, when he stopped trying to capture nature as perfect. After so many labored abstract styles, Aryea believes that oil painting is finally where it should be going- a natural direction after all those layered oils!
