Barry Baldwin New York

Bus Driver and Safety Award Recipient

A hard working resident of New York City, Barry Baldwin served within the city's workforce for nearly 30 years. He began his career as a graduate of Mims High School in McCormick, South Carolina, where he played in the school band and on the football team. After receiving his diploma in 1970, Barry Baldwin relocated to New York.

In 1973, he became a machine operator in the mailroom of Chase Manhattan Bank, where he oversaw the sealing and stamping of envelopes. He went on to similar positions with Bradford Securities and Time Direct Service, after which time he left the city's mail rooms behind to begin working for the New York City Transit Authority as a bus operator.

As a driver, Mr. Baldwin worked to provide courteous, safe, and timely service to a diverse cohort of passengers. He distinguished himself as recipient of an Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) certificate award, which he earned in recognition of his quality care of passengers with disabilities. Over the course of his career, he received a number of safety awards and certificates for incident-free operations.
