After graduating cum laude from the University of California, Los Angeles, with a bachelor's degree in Spanish and political science, Berna Kamyar went on to study at the University of Minnesota Law School. While completing his juris doctor, Berna Kamyar worked as a judicial extern for the Honorable Chief Judge Michael Davis in the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota, a law clerk for the Minneapolis Department of Civil Rights, and corporate extern at the Tennant Company.
In 2011, Berna Kamyar accepted a position in San Diego as a bilingual law clerk with Guerra & Johnson, P.C. Throughout the following years, he worked with groups such as Disability Rights California and worked at several firms, including the Law Offices of Bashir Ghazialam. In 2017, he began providing pro bono services to immigrant children as a staff attorney at the Central American Resource Center (CARECEN) in Los Angeles.
Throughout his career, he has volunteered extensively with California Rural Legal Assistance and the Legal Aid Society of San Diego. He also belongs to professional organizations such as the California Bar Association.
