Brenda Roberts

Former Auditor with the City of Oakland

An accomplished audit executive who has worked in the greater San Francisco Bay Area for more than two decades, Brenda Roberts holds a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Finance from Golden Gate University.

Her career includes management positions in Public Accounting, publicly-held companies, private companies and federal and local government, in the fields of accounting, budget management, internal audit and forensic investigations. Her focus has always been to support good governance, stronger controls and efficient work practices.

The value she has brought to the organizations she has served include identifying more than $4 million in cost savings and revenue recapture for a local municipality; reducing time, effort and resources in control testing by 30% without compromising compliance for a publicly-held company. She uplifted the management of an organization’s Whistleblower program and developed a fraud awareness curriculum to support and advocate for ethics in the workplace. She worked with management to ‘right-size’ inventory levels and to implement procedures for better inventory management.

Brenda values and serves her community through volunteerism as Commissioner on the City of Oakland’s Budget Advisory Commission; as a volunteer for Reading Partners, at local animal shelters, upkeep of community gardens and open spaces, and other involvement in the community.
