Brian Uridge

Public Safety and Security Professional

A graduate of Western Michigan University with a Master’s of Science in public administration, Brian Uridge has more than three decades of experience in security, law enforcement, healthcare, and the fire service. Brian spent more than four years as Assistant Chief of the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety, managing an annual budget of $34 million. Responsible for overseeing all fire, police, narcotics, and criminal investigations personnel, Brian Uridge helped achieve a 20 percent reduction in major crimes over three years.

Since 2018, Brian Uridge has served as Deputy Director of Public Safety and Security with the University of Michigan and as Director of security for Michigan Medicine. A sworn police officer for the university, he helped integrate law enforcement and K-9’s into the health system.

A member of multiple professional organizations, he belongs to the American Society for Industrial Security, the Association of Threat Assessment Professionals, and the International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety. A licensed airplane and helicopter pilot, he enjoys boating in his free time.
