黃駿承

My name is James Huang and I am a mechanical engineering student studying at The Univerisity Of British Columbia. At UBC engineering, I excelled at communicating design ideas using tools such as Solidworks and operating shop machinery and hand tools to manufacture parts. With these experiences, I understand what quality of work is expected of me as a professional engineer.

Experience

UBC Supermileage, UBC Supermileage member, Sep 2019 ~ 現在

- Modifying a 3-D printer to print carbon-filled nylon for better quality mechanical parts
- Built wooden enclosure for composite 3-D printer to ensure consistent cooling of parts to avoid inconsistent microstructure within composite
- Designed 3D printed mechanical parts used to easily maneuver prototype vehicle and safely enclose driver within the car shell
- Repaired damages on outer shell of vehicle with composites to maintain efficient vehicle aerodynamics
- Installed magnetic latches on the vehicle shell to ensure alignment and avoid deformation

Crofton, Engineering mentor, Nov 2019 ~ Nov 2019

- Guided participants on constructing an assistive device to implement solutions for
individuals with handicaps
- Guided participates on how to approach designing by showcasing different types of
prototypes Physical and Virtual simulations
Model United Nations - Delegate

MUN, Model United Nations , Jan 2018 ~ Dec 2018

- Recognized as “Best delegate” at FONGMUN 2018
- Recognized as “Best Public Speaker” Northern Taiwan Alliance MUN 2018 and presented over 35 times throughout the 2-day event
- Recognized as “Outstanding Delegate” in CCMUN 2017

Technical project

UBC Supermileage 3D printer wooden enclosure (February 2020)

- Designed and crafted a wooden enclosure used to maintain constant cooling temperature while our modified composite printer is at work to avoid inconsistent microstructure in 3-D printed parts

UBC Mechanical engineering ROVER project (September 2019)

- Designed modified Ackermann steering system for a remotely controlled vehicle (ROV) designed for rugged terrain

- Identified most optimal material to build with vehicle chassis based on evaluation criteria using a material database (CES) for minimum weight given the amount of stress expected

- Created a modeled mockup of the steering mechanism to validate a sufficient vehicle turning-radius

UBC Supermileage fuel cell car attachment (September 2019)

- Redesigned a mechanical part connecting the top and bottom part of the car shell that lead to 50% reduction in weight compared to previous design using SolidWorks and 3-D printing
