Cody Gotchall

Distinguished Academic Achiever in Corvallis, Oregon

Cody Gotchall has demonstrated an aptitude for and an abiding interest in science-, technology-, engineering-, and math-related fields since his time as a student at Crescent Valley High School (CVHS) in Corvallis, Oregon, where he served on the school’s robotics team for all four of his years there. Cody Gotchall’s induction into the National Honor Society serves as further evidence of his academic distinction at CVHS. 


Since graduation, Mr. Gotchall has pursued coursework at Oregon State University and Linn-Benton Community College. At the latter institution, he developed a fundamental understanding of computer-aided design programs such as SolidWorks. 


Active in his community, Mr. Gotchall volunteers for nonprofits such as Habitat for Humanity and SafeHaven Humane Society. His love of animals has also led him to work at dog shows sponsored by the American Kennel Club and the Chintimini Kennel Club. He has started volunteering at the United First Methodist Church on Tuesdays with two friends from his nine years in the 4-Paws 4-H group. 


Mr. Gotchall learned how to train a dog in the aspects of obedience, showmanship, and rally. He trained a crossbred Border Collie to obey general commands like sit, stay, down, and come. He learned how to complete a course of multiple signs in a challenge known as rally. 


An avid Backgammon player, he also enjoys Cribbage and Sudoku in his free time. Mr. Gotchall also likes reading Winston Graham's Poldark novels.
