The Optical Character Recognition (OCR) crew is a multi-discipline org distributed across 3 different global locations; our mission is to build the best in breed OCR engines, and productize them as Azure services, and as premium functionality in Dynamics, Office and PowerApps suites.
We need a PM who brings laser-sharp execution focus to our crew, and helps keep teams across 3 locations (Beijing, Taipei, Redmond) and across 2 orgs (Azure, MSRA) in sync, scheduling on time and at high quality.
This PM would also engage with local vendors in data collection tasks, ensuring we get high quality input into our training data. This is a role that starts very execution focused and, over time, as our own tech matures, can evolve into shepherding deep 3p and 1p customer integrations.
Responsibilities
- Work with PM peers and engineering and research managers to create solid release and delivery schedules.
- Ensure no ball gets dropped in the flurry of cross-continent and cross-org communication, and that dependencies are clearly tracked.
- Interface between engineering and data-vendors to ensure we provide clear and actionable guidance on data collection and labeling. Open necessary POs on time and get new data asks vetted.
- Work with customers, both 1p and 3p, to drive durable adoption of our services. Be able to pitch across the Vision portfolio, and drive requirements back to the Computer Vision, Custom Vision, Face, Form Recognizer teams.
- Understand user requirements and drive feature/product improvements to our Receipt and Business Card Understanding engines.
- Partner with local BD and Field teams to create relevant collateral for Vision, so they can in turn pitch their customers successfully on our tech.
- 50%+ of communications may happen in Mandarin, given a lot of our local data vendors have that as primary language.
- This job will be based out of Taipei and require frequent travel (ideally once a quarter) to Redmond and/or Beijing. (*note: global and personal circumstances happen; we will always accommodate via Teams or phone calls).
