Job Description

Social Apps Marketing Director

  • Role: Full-Time (Startup mode)
  • Location: Taipei, Taiwan or remote outside of Taiwan


We’re seeking a creative, detail-oriented, and self-motivated Marketing Director to drive the strategy & execution of our organic user acquisition.

You should be an expert in at least one field of organic marketing and will focus on that area at first: App Store Optimization (ASO), Search Engine Optimization (SEO) optimizing for organic search volume across brand/ category/long-tail opportunities, Public Relations (PR) and press, Social Media Marketing, etc.

As you progress with us, you’ll have the opportunity to learn & oversee more areas of our marketing team, including areas outside of your primary expertise to increase profitable user acquisition and re-engagement via organic and ads, building on our existing traction and experimenting with new channels.

What you’ll do

  • Create comprehensive and convincing marketing plans covering your areas of ownership, collaborating with teammates and management to come up with the best solutions
  • Work smoothly with the team, respecting their feedback and providing clear communication of your reasoning, methods, and ideas
  • Plan marketing budgets and report on important metrics regularly
  • Drive a balanced mobile app user acquisition via a multi-channel marketing strategy, including content, social, community, and other organic channels
  • Create and test various content strategies for SEO, ASO, or other channels
  • Analyze funnel data from Apple App Store, Google Play Store, and other sources, to generate reports, insights, and action items
  • Optimize keywords for impressions, conversion, and search discoverability (ASO, Ads, SEO)
  • Collaborate with the creative team for the production and localization of App Store assets such as icons, screenshots, and videos
  • Manage link-building campaigns, conducting back-link profile analysis across all domains (SEO)
  • Web (mobile & desktop) landing page optimization
  • Identify, approach, and win positive press coverage
  • Use data to continuously optimize campaigns across relevant dimensions
  • Use insights and data to craft and complete growth experiments continuously


Experience Requirements

  • 3+ years work experience in growth marketing for mobile apps
  • BA/BS degree or higher, proficient in English writing and communication
  • Validated experience in scaling organic mobile user growth and engagement
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented (you rarely miss the core details, easily creating and following detailed plans), and highly results-driven
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and collaboration skills, including managing a small team to shape a positive environment
  • Data-driven / experimental digital marketing experience, leveraging data analytics to optimize and make decisions

Nice to have:

  • 5+ years work experience in growth marketing for mobile apps, including substantial experience in organic growth
  • Experience in the Social / Dating Industry
  • Experience using mobile app marketing analysis tools such as Sensor Tower, App Annie, AppTweak, etc.
  • Experience in growing substantial traffic from SEO strategies
  • Experience reliably handling marketing budgets across multiple digital/media channels and global markets
  • Experience setting up, managing, and scaling app ad and social channels, such as Apple Search Ads, Google Ads, Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat, Twitter, etc.
  • Email marketing experience is a plus: sales funnels, drip campaigns, using email as a content marketing channel, etc.
  • Experience and understanding of mobile measurement tools such as Kochava, Appsflyer, Branch, etc.
  • Social Media Strategy and Execution Experience across multiple platforms

Founded in 2013 by The Global Growth Expert, Colin Hodge, Down was acquired by Paktor in 2016 after reaching over 5 million users organically, merged companies with 17Live in 2017, and then reacquired by the founders in 2018.

We now treat Taipei as our headquarters, growing from a team of 2 into 15. Team members often get exposure to multiple aspects of running successful, profitable social apps, while growing their ownership skills for one main area.
