Our Core Platform Technology team in Taiwan has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Embedded Software Engineer who is passionate about Bluetooth Wireless technology and its application to audio. Garmin Bluetooth enabled products enable hands-free audio in your car, streaming music from your wrist, and many other use cases that improve the lives of our customers. Software Engineers working on Bluetooth Audio technology will work with their mentors to develop their skillsets around and be responsible for the following activities at Garmin:
• Design, implement, debug, and optimize high-quality Bluetooth Audio subsystems.
• Verify performance through testing protocols and data analysis.
• Integrate, maintain, and contribute to 3rd party and open source software projects.
• Improve and tailor vendor drivers, stack and applications to our needs
• Evaluate designs for performance, maintainability, and identify potential security issues.
• Work directly with all product segments including Marine, Portable Aviation, Outdoor, Fitness, and Automotive to support product features related to Bluetooth
• Participate in code reviews, giving and receiving detailed feedback with other engineers.
• Work with the hardware team to ensure the correct hardware and RF architecture necessary to support a good customer experience.
• Support compliance engineers with Profile Test Suite (PTS) testing, Qualified Design ID (QDID) inspection, profile version analysis, etc.
• Provide reliable solutions to a wide range of difficult problems using sound problem solving techniques.

Candidates for this role should possess a Master's degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering AND a minimum of 1 year relevant work experience developing embedded software.

Requirements for this role include:
• Must possess proficiency in writing and debugging software in C/C++ on an embedded platform.
• Experience integrating and maintaining 3rd party software packages.
• Must excel at collaborative software development with teams distributed across multiple sites.
• Must possess the ability to manage multiple simultaneous development projects with different toolchains.
• Experience with communication protocols for systems utilizing UART, I2C, SPI and other such inter-IC interfaces.
• Experience identifying system architecture issues, software security risks and developing solutions.

Desirable skills include:
• Experience with Bluetooth stack or driver software development.
• Experience with distributed systems development .
• Must possess detailed knowledge of the Bluetooth BR/EDR core specification and experience with audio profile specifications including, but not limited to AVDTP, A2DP, AVRCP, HSP, and HFP.
• Experience integrating Bluetooth audio functionality on embedded systems.
• Experience debugging the Bluetooth BR/EDR protocol over-the-air with commonly available protocol analyzers/ sniffers.
