The scope of the work:

As the researcher, you will be responsible for developing, coordinating and implementing effective research and investigation to support Greenpeace’s campaigns, and providing and executing strategic advice on the development of research and investigation. You will work under the Research Unit and collaborate with the project team to carry out research and investigation for projects: Climate Change, Air Pollution, Plastic Pollution, and Ocean Campaign. You will be required to do both desktop research and field investigation to collect evidence and information on environmental destruction.

Job responsibilities:

• Research and analyze a wide range of specialized materials on issues in relation to different campaign projects, and advise campaigns on research-oriented opportunities. Advise campaign projects on research-related matters.
• Design research and investigation plan according to Greenpeace protocol.
• Conduct desktop research and field investigation. Ensure accurate and professional research tasks are delivered timely.
• Initiate collaboration and maintain the relationship with institutions and individuals so as to enhance Greenpeace research capability. Find suitable contractors as required in compliance with Greenpeace policies.
• Coordinate the development and implementation of research plans which are regional or global in scope.
• Monitor major environmental incidents and provide advice to management on matters related to Rapid Response.
• Ensure Greenpeace research and investigation are of professional quality and meet agreed global standards.

Requirements:

• Expertise in one or more research methodologies or tools
• At least 3 years of experience in the research field(Specialized in Climate or Energy research is preferred)
• Fluent written and spoken English and Mandarin
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, while also functioning and contributing as part of a team
• Experience and ability working in a culturally-diverse environment is a plus
