ISLUNCH is a digital club platform that empowers local restaurants with a mobile app to connect with customers directly and tools that were previously only available to huge retails like Starbucks. One of our friends told us that during Covid, 90% of her restaurant business has shifted from dine-in to delivery apps where she was forced to pay 30% fees. Even for the pickup scenarios, customers still prefer ordering through apps. After interviewing with more restaurants, we found an interesting insight that merchants are eagerly looking for alternative solutions to avoid the expensive fees, especially for pickups. They have to either decrease their margin which was already thin or they have to increase their item price on the delivery app (which often results in bad customer experience). We really started this company to help restaurants like our friend. I think one of biggest unfair advantages we have is that one of our co-founders, Sharon has domain experience in this area. She has worked full time in the Starbuck to support digital loyalty reward programs including business strategy, financial sizing, and is the finance lead to launch the first two strategic loyalty partnerships globally for Starbucks in Canada. We know a successful proven road map on how Starbucks applies digital tools, data analytics and marketing to drive traffic and increase revenue through engaging customers.
