An officer in the United States Air Force for several decades, Dr. Skotte served as a flight surgeon with the 173rd Fighter Wing in Klamath Falls, Oregon. He subsequently engaged as the Medical Group commander of the 124th Wing in Boise, Idaho, and has also held responsibilities as a chief of aerospace medicine. 

A recipient of the Legion of Merit for his command of the Medical Group at the Channel Islands Air National Guard Station in California, Dr. Daniel Skotte’s accomplishments at the installation included ensuring wing deployment readiness when undertaking disaster response and aeromedical evacuation operations.
