Douglas Knight has been in the travel industry for almost his whole life. His background is in accounting, business finance, and entrepreneurship. He attended the University of Oregon and graduated with a degree in economics. After graduation, he remained out near the west coast.
He started in the field immediately after graduation with a job at American Airlines. After learning the ropes, he eventually transferred to Saber. He moved locations over to the East Coast and landed in the NYC offices.
Once on the East Coast, he decided to open his own travel business. He purchased McGregor Travel in Greenwich, CT and grew the company to success in the 1990’s. The company handled accounts with big names like Bristol-Myers Squibb, Paramount Pictures, and Sony Pictures Entertainment. The company did so well that he expanded the brand overseas to the UK to meet the demand.
He then sold the company to Navigate International. He moved to work out of their Denver, CO offices for a short time. After his contract expired, he waited for his non-compete clause to expire before becoming CEO of WorldTek Event and Travel Management. WorldTek has an emphasis on quality control and they recently switched their systems to automated self-booking and management information systems.
His goals are to continue growing the company and expanding their services. He hopes to retire in 10 years and plans to spend time with his family, golfing and skiing. He also plans to travel and see more of the world during his retirement.
Douglas Knight hopes to someday add Tangiers, Morocco, Madrid, and Bordeaux to his international passport. His career straight out of college in LA working for American Airlines.
