Ed Gentle

Experienced Mass Tort Attorney and Settlement Administrator

A dedicated attorney with more than three decades of experience, Ed Gentle is the founder and managing partner of Gentle, Turner, Sexton & Harbison, LLC, in Birmingham, Alabama. Largely focusing his practice on complex commercial litigation and mass tort/class action litigation, he often works for the courts as a neutral special master and settlement administrator. In addition to his legal practice, Ed Gentle regularly gives talks and writes papers about topics related to mass torts. Some of the topics he has addressed include the challenges of administering local settlements and the selection of lead counsel by the courts. 


Ed Gentle prepared for his career at Auburn University. He attended the University as a Danforth Scholar and graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree. He subsequently attended the University of Miami as a Maytag Fellow before becoming a Rhodes Scholar at Oxford University. After receiving a bachelor of arts in jurisprudence there, he continued on to receive his Juris Doctor from the University of Alabama School of Law. Over the next several years, Mr. Gentle worked for such firms as North, Haskell, Slaughter, Young & Lewis and Miller, Hamilton, Snider & Odom before founding his own firm.
