We are grieved to report this sad news in web3 field...

In last episode, we ended up that #binance declaring that they have the intention of acquiring #ftx. However, just when we thought the drama was over, it came another twist! On November 10th, Binance tweeted, “In the beginning, our hope was to be able to support FTX’s customers to provide #liquidity , but the issues are beyond our control or ability to help.” so “….we have decided that we will not pursue the potential acquisition of FTX.”

With SBF deleting his previous tweets, FTX and #alamedaresearch official websites taken offline and the majority of FTX’s legal and compliance team quit, this nightmare in the crypto world has devastated the public.

NFT stands for non-fungible token. What does non-fungible mean? Let’s say you passed by a vending machine and decided to buy coke. You wouldn’t be spending time picking which 5 dollar bill to use because they have identical value. In other words, they are fungible or replaceable. A fungible item can be broken down into smaller units and can be easily traded for such as money or cryptocurrencies.

Back to the scenario. Unfortunately, you spilled your coke on your signed Air Jordan shoes. A new pair of the same kind and brand wouldn’t share equal value because it’s irreplaceable and unique. It’s non-fungible.

To wrap up, we know that NFTs and cryptocurrencies are not the same because NFTs are non-fungible while cryptocurrencies are.

You might have heard of "play to earn" or "play to own", but what about "scan to own"? On October. 21st, Azuki, the anime-themed project, auctioned 8 golden skateboards, the most expensive one being 309 #ETH. They aren’t meant to be ridden since each weighs 45 lbs (20kg)!

So what are they for? These skateboard NFTs make on-chain ownership possible for real-world assets in just one scan away. By scanning the embedded BEAN chip, it links the physical skateboard to the digital token, PBT, on the #Ethereum #blockchain without a centralized server. You then own the physical asset AND the digital experiences it brings.

I bet you’ve seen people selling fake luxury goods online or on the streets. Pairing them with NFTs seems to be a good solution in proving their authenticity and combating counterfeits. But here’s another problem.

These physical goods are separate from their digital NFTs so the seller can sell the NFTs while keeping the physical goods, just like how Julian Lennon (John Lennon's son) sold his Beatles memorabilia as NFTs while keeping the actual physical items.

To solve this disconnection, Azuki introduced the concept of scan to own, connecting “the digital (NFT)” to “the physical (goods)” with an in-built chip. When you sell the physical good, the chip naturally goes with it.

When the buyer receives the physical item, scans it, it then directly says on-chain that this is the new owner. More details about Azuki's project in the next episode!

The P2O model cultivates players’ strong sense of belonging for both in-game assets and intellectual properties (IP) by lowering the gameplay threshold for new players and rewarding them continuously.

For players, there is no difference between early and late comers. Ability and skill are the factors that truly matter when it comes to yielding profits.

The traditional Play-to-Earn (P2E) model

The reason why the traditional P2E model fails to form a sustainable game economy lies in the fact that early participants are paid with the investments from later entrants. This is the part where the P2E model attracts the most criticism – early investors take it all; the late ones, mourn their loss.

The advantage of Play-to-Own (P2O) games
