I bet you’ve seen people selling fake luxury goods online or on the streets. Pairing them with NFTs seems to be a good solution in proving their authenticity and combating counterfeits. But here’s another problem.

These physical goods are separate from their digital NFTs so the seller can sell the NFTs while keeping the physical goods, just like how Julian Lennon (John Lennon's son) sold his Beatles memorabilia as NFTs while keeping the actual physical items.

To solve this disconnection, Azuki introduced the concept of scan to own, connecting “the digital (NFT)” to “the physical (goods)” with an in-built chip. When you sell the physical good, the chip naturally goes with it.

When the buyer receives the physical item, scans it, it then directly says on-chain that this is the new owner. More details about Azuki's project in the next episode!
