James Ahern serves as managing partner of Laidlaw & Company, an investment bank focused on the health care sector. Since joining the firm in 2010, he has worked to make it a leading institutional investor throughout the world, establishing a network of offices throughout the United States and Europe. He has extensive experience guiding multimillion-dollar equity investments from initial offering through to closing. Prior to his position at Laidlaw & Company, James Ahern served as managing director of Aegis Capital, where he produced bespoke investment strategies for high net worth clientele.
Outside of his professional life, James Ahern gives back to his community as a supporter of a number of charitable organizations. He is a longtime volunteer and supporter of the Massachusetts Bay Big Brothers Sisters Foundation and serves on the organization’s board of overseers. He previously served as co-chair of the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Massachusetts Bay Golf Classic, helping to raise $750,000 for the organization. An alumni of the Northfield Mount Hermon School, he continues to contribute regularly to the school and is the current chair of the school’s Basketball Alumni Council of Excellence.
