BuildDirect is a technology company, building open platforms for the home improvement and heavy weight freight industries. Our platforms enables home-owners and contractors to find the perfect product from a large online selection. Working to solve a heavy freight shipping issue that has plagued the industry and create a proprietary data-driven platform that benefits manufacturers, partners and customers alike.


Responsible for technical recruitment across the business, I focus on all aspects of sourcing, recruitment, branding and process throughout our hiring in Vancouver, Waterloo and Bangalore. I also work on improving our company recruitment and candidate processes, HR technology, co-op program, branding and events such as company run and hosted Meetups and Hackathons.


I continue to support the further organization in areas of both recruitment and HR business partnering, but remain focused in finding exceptional talent that is aligned with our culture and goals within our Software Engineering, Product, QA, Analytics, UX & Design, Infrastructure and Digital Marketing teams.


  • Alongside continuous tech hiring, I helped to build out new teams with the hiring of brand new teams and new roles within Technology

As a Technical Talent Specialist, I supported multiple global, blue chip companies through the sourcing and selection of candidates for specialist opportunities across the UK. I predominantly covered the Technology sector, but also supported Financial Services and PMO.


  • Liaised with both recruiters and managers on-site to gain key initial understanding into each of the roles I sourced for
  • Researched and put into effect new sourcing strategies to attract and talent pool candidates from within the marketplace, using both traditional and social channels
  • With MS Excel created new spreadsheets to track my work, using the data to look at different areas of the process, candidate movement ratios, etc. and put together new reports for myself and the team to adapt our work and process
  • Also used the above data to help put together a personal side project for the team to better team communication and efficiency

Working primarily within Social Work and Care, I recruited on both permanent and contract basis for all levels of seniority including Social Workers, Senior Practitioners, Team Managers, Service Managers, Project Workers, Area Managers and Registered Managers.


  • Helped to build out a new division of the company, building up from fully cold desk and space, going on to build strong, new relationships with clients and candidates across the South East, increasing my desk through promotions from Trainee through to Junior and then Consultant
  • Using predominately MS Excel, created new and improved team spreadsheets to enter and track our sourcing and hiring data, to then use to better our processes and approach

Held positions through management levels across Essex and London. Worked up from Sales Assistant, to Supervisor, Assistant Manager and then to Deputy Manager.


  • Specialized in Recruitment, Back Office Systems and Merchandising, aiding new stores with branch setup, recruitment, and merchandising.
  • Whilst working as a Deputy Manager, I was invited to spend time in Germany working as part of a company- wide selected team, specifically to setup the company’s first European stores, outside of UK & Ireland, in its history.

De Montfort University, Dropoutology (2007 - 2009) Leicester, UK

I started at De Montfort University studying Multimedia Technology, before changing to a new course after my first year. I then spent a year studying Music Technology before leaving due to financial and personal reasons. Even though I left university, I gained invaluable personal skills and life experience. I plan to go back into education studying a degree of some form part time in the future.

One project I completed in my time at BuildDirect was to build out a brand new platform for our Co-op program.


I looked at this to help improve our company branding, candidate experience and also provide a testing grounds for future employee engagement.

Volunteering

Community Coach 
Tottenham Hotspur Foundation


Throughout 2011 I worked with the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation (part of Tottenham Hotspur Football Club) as a community sports coach. This was based within the surrounding areas of Tottenham in London, at aer-school and evening events for children, acting as a project to help keep them out of trouble and o the streets.
