Juan Garcia

I am a recent graduate with an M.A. in public relations from the University of Southern California, where I was named Outstanding Public Relations Scholar for the graduate class of 2017. Prior to that I earned a Bachelor's degree in English from UC, Berkeley. I've always been a storyteller at heart, and am looking for the opportunity to help a brand I admire foster better relationships with its diverse stakeholders and customers, and to communicate in a more impactful way.

Relevant Academic Projects

Encouraging Charitable Participation

In fall 2016, the Internal Communications team at WB approached my class for help with getting their employees engaged in the company's giving program, Impact. With my team I performed the following:

  • Created messaging that highlighted key benefits for employees as well as the program's community impact
  • Devised tactics to help company's messaging gain greater visibility through the use of physical touch-points and studio infrastructure
  • Designed incentive-based (gamified) system that took advantage of WB intellectual properties to motivate employees

Building Brand Ambassadors

In Spring 2016, LS & Co. approached my class to help their Corporate Affairs team reach employees more effectively, and to in turn get them to share content with friends. Toward this, my group did the following:

  • Developed a survey to get insight about employee digital habits and messaging preferences and distributed it to over 150 employees
  • Researched successful competitors with loyal followings to extract best practices
  • Created a messaging strategy that took into account employee feedback and research
