Devops Engineer with a background in education startups and consulting. I thrive in an agile environment and I love building substance out of clouds. Experienced in client communication, team development, and security.

Skills

AWS Architecture

I'm proud to hold an SA: Professional certification from AWS. Highly-available, fault-tolerant, secure, and scriptable are the benchmarks. I have experience building out decoupled EC2-based architectures with Cloudformation, monitoring with Cloudwatch, and networking with VPCs, ELBs, Autoscaling, and Route53 with cross-region failover.

CI/CD and Monitoring

DevOps a culture first, and an ever-changing toolkit second. My experiences include deployment tools Ansible, Chef/OpsWorks, and Vagrant, as well as working with container architecture with Docker & ECS. In monitoring, I've worked with AWS integration with Cloudwatch, Nagios, and the ELK Stack.

Coding and Linux

Python and Bash scripting threads everything together (pun intended). I've worked in primarily OS X local and Linux server environments, including Ubuntu and CentOS/Amazon Linux distributions.

Experience

DevOps Engineer @ productOps, Jan 2016 - Dec 2016

Primarily working with clients at a scale of 200 to 500 servers, we architected migrations from on-premise to a hybrid or full cloud solution. We often built at the cutting edge, pioneering with container orchestration and CI/CD solutions across multiple regions, while adhering to medical and financial records-grade security requirement specifications. For best-use for AWS solutions, I was the go-to PoC for clients.

System Administrator @ Volunteer Center of Santa Cruz, Jan 2016 - April 2016

I oversaw server, email, and content hosting migrations, managed 50 personal workstations at a primary and satellite site, and provided support for all traditional networking.

Programming Educator @ ETR, Sep 2015 - Dec 2015

On an NSF grant-funded research project, I taught the fundamentals of team-based software development and game design to a class of 24 students over a full semester, and made qualitative and quantitative observations of student behavior for a broader study.

AmeriCorps VIP @ Digital NEST, Sep 2014 - Aug 2015

As the first full-time staff member, I often served as the public face for the tech education non-profit. I coordinated over 100 volunteers in the education of 450 youths in web development, computer science principles, and entrepreneurial skills. Ask me about the newsletter.
