Board certified in both surgery and palliative care, Dr. Khalid Shirif is a respected presence in the Mesa, Arizona, community who leads a number of practices as medical director, including Traditions Hospice, Sunrise Health, and the Vanguard Physician Group. Also the owner of Anthem Hospice, Dr. Khalid Shirif is board certified with the American College of Surgeons in surgery and palliative care.
Dr. Shirif completed his surgical training at the State University of New York (SUNY) at Buffalo. He was chose to a serve as administrative chief resident his chief year of residency. While at SUNY, he undertook transplant surgery research and presented his work at the yearly meeting of the American College of Surgeons.
Dr. Shirif’s academic background includes research conducted at Boston University Medical School on the topic of the compromised abdomen and endothelial cell proliferation. A specific focus was on pathways of administering hyaluronic acid in the compromised abdomen. Dr. Shirif holds a doctor of medicine from the University of Minnesota, where he also pursued undergraduate studies with honors.
