Dr. Kimberly Barrett began her career as a diversity consultant in 1992. Her consulting business is KB Compassionate Consulting. Over the course of nearly three decades, she has balanced her consulting work throughout North America with positions such as vice president for diversity and inclusion at Lawrence University and vice president for multicultural affairs and community engagement at Wright State University. She has received a number of awards in recognition of her impact on inclusiveness and systemic inequality at these institutions, including the Greater Dayton Diversity Award and the Higher Education Excellence in Diversity Award from Diversity Magazine. She recently received an Unsung Hero Award from Celebrate Diversity Fox Cities. As a consultant working with both private and public institutions, Dr. Kimberly Barrett focuses on topics such as racism, prejudice reduction, and overarching techniques for facilitating effective conversations about diversity and inclusion.

Dr. Kimberly Barrett studied higher education administration at Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, graduating with a doctor of philosophy. She has been a member of several professional organizations, including the National Association of Diversity Officers in Higher Education and Liberal Arts Diversity Officers, where she served as an executive board member. She was also the founder of the Fox Cities Diversity Officers Collaborative.
