Trained in data science at Metis in New York City, Larry Finer has research interests in areas that include general computer programming, web scraping, data acquisition, machine learning, regression/classification, natural language processing, and neural networks. Larry Finer’s educational accomplishments at Metis include the use of a random forest classifier to determine the probability of flight delays, and the development of an autoencoder with convolutional neural network inputs to build a system that recommends works of art. Dr. Finer also completed a natural language processing study to understand the ways Urban Dictionary uses slang.
Before he entered the Metis Data Science Bootcamp, Dr. Finer served as a research consultant studying the relationship between the evolution of technology and changes in health reporting behavior among women. Mr. Finer’s other recent professional accomplishments include a position as a senior editor at Practical Management Envisioneering, where he created a backend issue-tracking system for editors.
