Leona Canaris

Retired Military Service Member

A former sergeant in the US Army, Leona Canaris handled human resources, logistics, and administrative operations. Her primary Army duties revolved around the basic organization and operational set-up of field hospitals. In addition to her work in the Army, Leona Canaris served in the Army National Guard and the Air National Guard.

All told, Leona Canaris was a member of the US military from 1971 to 2006. Her awards and decorations include a National Defense Medal of Honor.

In addition to her considerable military experience Ms. Canaris is an avid singer who gravitates toward the polished R&B of Motown, as well as pop music. She is currently learning to play the guitar and the steel drum. Her favorite musicians include Smokey Robinson and Fleetwood Mac. She is also passionate about cooking and crafting, and is a strong animal rights supporter who makes regular contributions to animal shelters.
