Manasha Garcia

Watercolor/Mixed Media Painter and Music Producer

A versatile artist , Manasha Garcia began painting and drawing as a child before going on to study art under experienced masters at Shimer College and Oxford University. In 1978, she met Jerry Garcia, a guitar player, singer, and leading force in the Grateful Dead. The couple ultimately married in 1990. Manasha and Jerry lived together in San Anselmo, California, where they raised their daughter Keelin.

Over the years, Manasha Garcia continued to paint, concentrating on watercolor and mixed media pieces. A diverse range of samples of her work, including a portrait of her late husband, are available for general public viewing online at https://www.garciaweirgallery.com/.
 

Manasha currently is a member of the production team at Jerry Garcia Music Arts, LLC, where she curates and produces selections of her late husband’s recordings from the Official Jerry Garcia Music Archive. Manasha and Keelin Garcia co-founded the Jerry Garcia Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization, and Manasha serves as the foundation’s president. The organization supports a range of artistic, humanitarian, and environmental causes through the beauty of art and music. She is also a member of the Advisory Board of the Guitar Center Foundation.
