To examine the reasons for student involvement and motivation, he has partnered with the Universities of Notre Dame, Illinois, and Berkeley. Academic improvement is more likely when students have intrinsic motivation. To inspire more students to be interested in their education, Dr. John Froiland has undertaken various research studies. Thanks to his innovation, institutions and schools may better engage students in their instructional programs.

Dr. John Froiland also knows how important it is to work as part of a team to achieve research goals. He has worked with the University of Notre Dame (ND), the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC), and the University of California at Berkeley (UC Berkeley) to find out why students are engaged and motivated in different ways. When students want to do better in school because they want to, they are more likely to get more out of school. Dr. John Froiland has worked on many projects that look at why some students are more interested in their education than others and what needs to be done to get more students interested.
