It is common for people to express themselves through social media, but when emotional states are expressed, the perception of ‘real’ feelings often diverge from what is stated. Our project uses this often unintentional obfuscation as a ‘site’ for a series of interventions on the body, and in space. It is fragmented into a series of remote, deployable agents; wearables, as well as a fully immersive physical installation.

We gathered hashtags from social media by twitter API, and analyze the sentiment by text blob, and project the mood of social media feeds through colors on the EMO installation.

We created a surrounded space that make people feel comfort to face their true feelings.
The EMO installation is created by 30,000 cable ties and 600 meters PVC tubes.

We apply muscle sensor to detect the facial expression, when you smile the color of the wearables will turn from blue to green. As you can see EMO wearable draws an emotional light trace of your representational feelings in a period of time in the picture.
