As a clinical psychologist working in a pediatric setting for more than 10 years, I am always part of an interdisciplinary team. By participating in regular meetings with psychiatrists, I am able to learn different aspects of medical and clinical psychiatry. I also meet with speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, and social workers as part of an early intervention team in order to optimize the treatment plan for individuals with a wide range of needs. In the process, I play a key role in bridging communication gaps between professionals and caregivers. As a result, I develop extraordinary communication skills, patience, and respect for both my team and my clients. I always strive to become a clinical psychologist who has the ability to quickly build rapport with a client, observe and analyze his/her behaviors and test results in order to formulate effective intervention and counseling program within a limited time frame. As a pediatric clinical psychologist, my training not only helps me always keep the child’s well-being in mind, it also helps me communicate effectively when there is a conflict. I feel confident that I am able to handle various difficult and unpredictable situations. Overall, my professional experiences not only make me a much more competent pediatric clinical psychologist, but also allow me to deal with challenging situations.
