Teamwork Building is about bringing people together to work towards a common goal. There are several ways in which team-building can be undertaken and it all comes down to how you approach the concept of teamwork building. Some people like to do things the old fashioned way, of course this is certainly easier said than done. Teamwork building is no easy task because you want your team to come together as one and interact with one another in an honest and open manner. By honest I mean that they should be able to communicate their ideas and opinions without being criticized or avoided. This is perhaps the most difficult element of teamwork building and is really what makes the difference between a good team and a bad one. One way of team-building exercises is by having everyone put pen to paper or finger to a pen, write a couple of sentences on each other's behalf, such as, 'I think we can all do with some help here', or 'We need some input on something'. This kind of assessment tool is good for brainstorming and can even stimulate ideas and get them talking. These kinds of exercises allow the team to take a breather from the constant discussion going on within the group. It also allows the team members to speak their mind and vent without it being criticized. Another way in which you can undertake teamwork-building is with the help of a role play or role playing (SAP) game. In a SAP game, there are usually three teams who all have their own specific goals. Each of the teams are given a specific character, for example, if the team is the terrorists they have to find and eliminate the target, while if the team is the good guys they have to try to stop the bad guys. The players are often given a scenario or a story to act out, which will then help the players to determine where the game will go. Teamwork-building exercises using these kinds of scenarios can be really fun to do and can also be a lot of fun to play along with others too! The internet has a wealth of resources on how to go about teamwork-building exercises. Many teachers use these exercises to help their students understand the concept of teamwork and how they can apply this concept in their daily lives. These are perfect for home schooled students as well. The most important thing is to make sure that whatever method you choose for teamwork-building exercises is appropriate for the age group you're teaching. For example, there is no reason why a 5-year-old should be participating in a scene from a movie involving a tiger! There are so many ways in which you can incorporate exercises in your class. One of the most fun ways to do it is through a movie night. Encourage the entire class to bring a video camera, a popcorn popper, cell phones, and get ready to have a blast! Make sure that the classroom is big enough to accommodate everyone and give people a chance to ask questions. If the weather is nice, have snacks available in different areas so that kids don't eat them quickly! Another great activity that has been shown to foster teamwork-building exercises is a movie night at home. Rent a comedy or children's movie. Encourage the class to come watch the movie with the rest of the class members. After the movie, have snacks and drinks available for everyone. It's also a good idea to have extra popcorn in the classroom so that no one gets bored. Finally, another fun exercise for building teamwork is to play a team sport together. It doesn't have to be anything major, just something that you like to do such as bowling, tennis, or horseshoes. There are a variety of different team sports that you could try, including soccer, volleyball, baseball, basketball, and more. Whatever you decide to do, remember to put any team building exercises into practice and make sure you have fun! Teamwork building is important in all types of organizations. Whether you work in an office, school, church group, business, or nonprofit organization, teambuilding is valuable. Teamwork exercises help people work better together and have fun, which leads to an increase in productivity. When you get people to work together effectively, your company or group will thrive and grow faster than if there were no teambuilding at all. Take some time to consider teambuilding and see what kinds of ideas and activities you can come up with!
