Stephen Epstein began his real estate business after graduating from the University of Southern California, where he handled over $150 million in student housing projects. He subsequently worked for another student housing company before taking a position as an acquisition analyst at a global private equity real estate firm a year later. He improved his asset allocation, formal underwriting, fund administration, and other institutional abilities while working on transactions worth more than $300 million at the private equity real estate fund. Epstein left the real estate industry in 2007 and founded DollarCamp, a publishing company and training organization geared at providing financial literacy to high school and college students. The company published a number of successful textbooks and other educational materials. While Epstein is still an owner, he is no longer involved in the day-to-day operations of DollarCamp. Beyond his philanthropic activities, Epstein enjoys a wide range of personal interests. He finds solace in exploring the great outdoors through hiking and boating.
