Mia Abelson

Mia Abelson is inspired by nature, particularly the power and richness of the North American landscape. Born in New York in 1964, Mia Abelson has been practicing the profession of painter and sculptor since 1990. Thus in the early 90s Mia devoted herself to the fine arts. She had her first solo exhibition in 1995 and since then her works have never ceased to impress collectors and art lovers everywhere. Mia has since won over twenty National and International awards, and produced several articles for the magazine International Artist. She has been the subject of several television and written interviews and her paintings are part of private and corporate collections. Mia's works can be found in galleries across the United States.

Mia has always been an artist… even before she could walk, perhaps even before she was born. As a child, Mia Abelson was always drawing trees or flowers of some kind. Thus came the interest for nature, landscapes and the unknown. Most of Mia's work is done with bold, vibrant colors. Her artwork usually has hidden stories or meanings to them and they are all usually life related. Sometimes the meaning that she is trying to express is not always shown, but it usually has an underlying message to it.  Comfortable working in many mediums she brings her ideas to life by creating fresh, orginal work. Being a creative soul, Mia is always driven to experiment and continually develop her ideas. Her current focus is in two primary areas, classical impressionism and a blend of abstract and contemporary impressionism.

Work Experience

Mia Abelson, Oil Painter, Apr 1990 ~ Present

Internationally recognized artist, Mia Abelson, works primarily in the NYC area, focusing on the banks of the Hudson River, working to capture both, its timeless grandeur and the ever-changing moods. Her work, distinguished by vibrant, almost fantastical colours and dramatic textures, has been honoured by numerous artistic awards. She paints by blending pigments together on canvas using a palette knife. This technique permits a loose, spontaneous style allowing texture to evolve naturally. The goal of her painting is to evoke the mood of a natural setting and to capture the feeling of being overwhelmed by the natural, almost magical beauty of a landscape. Mia Abelson is represented by American Art Galleries and her works are in private and corporate collections in the US, Europe and Asia.
