Michael first began his career as a materials management specialist with New United Motor Manufacturing. This was a joint venture between General Motors and Toyota, and it introduced the "Toyota Production System," which was the basis for lean management in the US. The system was a great fit for Michael, and he was quickly placed on the fast track at Toyota, where he started working with top executives. The CEO, Akio Toyoda, selected Michael to go to Japan to receive extensive training regarding lean management.
Michael E. Parker worked with Toyota as a Senior Project Manager until 2001. At that point, he wanted to share his perspective with others. Leaving Toyota was Mr. Parker’s choice, and although leaving such a fulfilling working environment was hard, he wanted to become an entrepreneur and start his own business.
Once he became an entrepreneur, Michael launched businesses in several industries such as service, manufacturing, and technology. Each industry had its own unique ins and outs, but he chose to focus on creating a unified vision for each business. Eventually his businesses grew to the point where they had 400 different employees across four different states.
Today, Michael E. Parker enjoys sharing his empowering message of how to create high-performing businesses. He is both an author and a speaker.
