Paul Shapiro debuted his first book, Clean Meat: How Growing Meat Without Animals Will Revolutionize Dinner and the World, that offers readers an inside view of the race to commercialize the world’s first real animal products that are grown without the need to raise and slaughter animals.
As VP of policy engagement at The Humane Society of the United States, Paul Shapiro worked with a dedicated team of animal advocates, helping to wage efforts in Congress to defeat legislation harmful to animals, wage local legislative campaigns to enact ordinances cracking down on animal cruelty, and wage a statewide effort to place a historic farm animal protection measure on the ballot.
As the VP of farm animal protection for The Humane Society of the United States, the world’s largest animal protection organization, Paul Shapiro was fortunate to work with some of the most talented advocates for animals, helping to spearhead legislative initiatives to prevent farm animal abuse. He also engaged with major food corporations to help end the cruelest agribusiness practices from their supply chains, as well as increased demand for plant-based proteins by reducing consumption of animal products.
