Philip Hickman

The superintendent of Mississippi’s Columbus Municipal School District, Dr. Philip Hickman holds national certification as a superintendent through the School Superintendent Association (AASA). An experienced personalized learning expert and career development speaker, he has delivered numerous presentations at conferences of the AASA and other professional organizations that serve the field of education. Dr. Philip Hickman is also a published author who wrote Stop Dribbling Footballs, a 2015 book that was designed to help K-12 educators lead each of their students to succeed.


Before accepting his current position with Columbus Municipal in 2014, Dr. Philip Hickman served tenures as area superintendent with the Houston Independent School District in Houston, Texas; assistant superintendent of the Promise Academy in Kansas City, Missouri; and principal/assistant principal/dean of students positions with several elementary and middle schools. Dr. Hickman has also completed consulting work with six different public and nonprofit organizations and instructed college students at multiple institutions of higher learning in Illinois and Texas.
