As Seen In… From The Archives An Art Educator's Journey This is an artistic journey which I’m sharing with you, my colleagues, to remind us all to be curious and to be creative. My goal is to connect with you, my readers, and have you take some of the ideas and understandings which I’ve expressed in this blog and use them to expand your creativity, nurture your curiosity, and expand your understanding of your child and your professional life. I was writing in one of my journals last year about a book that I was reading: “Cherry Hill Publishers has written a fabulous book called The Creative Child: Reawakening the Lost Art of Childhood. I recommend this book to all parents, educators, and mentors of young children. The book was written by Mark Hensley who has a graduate degree in art education and has been studying and learning about the creative process and childhood since the early 1960s. He is currently the Head of Creative Studies in Birmingham, England. Hensley is a strong advocate of the creative process in children, but he is not an advocate of the toy. Hensley considers toys or other things that a child plays with as distractions or mental health issues.
