Career Zalone was born in Milan to an Italian mother and an American father. He first appeared on television in the 1980s, as a child actor on the Rai television series Cuori, along with some of his brothers, notably Francesco and Giulio, and Vincenzo. He later played a supporting role in the television show all'ombra di Zorro. His first film was the 1994 Disney film Princess Protection Program. Zalone was the top TV-rating male character in Italy for the period from 2000-2002. Zalone often hosts various television programs, such as Pasquale e la sua équipe on Italia 1 and Mondo Fantastico on Italia 1. In 2002, he hosted the MTV2 show Rated M, along with Drea von Majak and fellow actor Fabrizio Filippo. In 2006 he co-hosted the Italia 1 programme Un gioco da butti alongside Alessandro Gassman. He also participated in the 2006 edition of the Sanremo Music Festival, representing the group Checco Zalone's Three Wise Guys. His song "Noi siamo, loro sono" was an Italian entry in the Eurovision Song Contest 2008. Zalone starred in the 2009 comedy film My Best Friend's Girl alongside Oscar Zucca, filmed in the Bologna suburb of Gualtieri, and adapted from the 1983 film of the same name. He also recorded a new album. In 2010 he returned to Sanremo Festival with the Checco Zalone's Three Wise Guys group, singing the song "Oggi ti amo di più" written by himself and Gigi D'Alessio. In 2012, he appeared as a main character in the comedy film Operation Ovitz, portraying an American businessman in Italy during the 2008–2009 financial crisis. The film was an Italian-German-Spanish co-production and was directed by Michele Placido. In 2013, he hosted the Italia 1 show Che non è che..., but after a few months he was replaced by Giuliano Turco. In 2014, he began to host the Italian version of the Russian edition of Piers Morgan's Life Stories. In 2014, he starred as "Enzo" in the Woody Allen movie To Rome with Love.
