- 0 1 Hi guys. I'm gonna be creating a custom song in Reaper. I created an instrumental by my self before so im familiar with the instrument and I just have to work on a melody and lyrics. I have the song ideas i wrote but I don't know how to go about the next step. I looked at some of the song tutorials on the web and they all say this: 1. Create a template using the Mac version of Reaper 2. Continue creating instruments in the template 3. When the template is done continue creating instruments in your track (I think its called either the song itself or the kit) 4. Make sure you save the songs to a disk 5. Burn the disk 6. Load your disk into your computer and open the song in an audio editor (e.g. Reaper) 7. You can rearrange your kit in an audio editor 8. Place this new kit in the song template and export it 9. There you have it, a custom song ready for the table to play. So basically I need to do everything I've just listed except item 4. I have no idea what an audio editor is so I can't figure out how to start. Sorry if this is vague or if I sound dumb but I haven't made a custom song before and I'm completely lost. 3) Now when you have a song that you want to use as the template you make a little "circle" around the portion you want to be replaced and right click to select Copy. Then open Reaper and click on the "home" icon on the upper left of the screen. In the drop down menu select "new kit from template". A new kit is created from the template. This kit is what you will use to replace the part of the original song you copied. At this point you can either use the sample kit or design your own. This will save your song template for future use. 4) Open the newly created kit in the kit view on the left of Reaper and drag all the items you want to replace back onto the "new" kit. Most of the items are already located on the template kit. You can right click on each item you want to copy and select copy to save your efforts. 5) Now you can either go through the menu on the left and rename the items or drag them into the right hand side of the window. Drag the "new" kit items into the song, do what you want to do, then select the
