Cognitive psychology, therefore, devotes itself to the study of human behavior from aspects that are not directly observable. They are not observable because they are mental aspects that measure the relationship between a stimulus and an answer. By saying the same in a somewhat less technical language, cognitive psychology is in charge of knowing which ideas surface in the patient's mind and how these ideas influence the emotional responses and behaviors that he has. It's how he feels and what he does about it.
