Overview Thalaimuraigal is a 2014 Indian Tamil-language action comedy film written and directed by Balu Mahendra. It stars Karthi, Ramya Shankar and Rahul Dev. The film revolves around the story of a thief who has to fight against different police officers to find out his father's murderer. The film was released on 24 August 2014. The film's audio released on 6 August 2014 and the satellite rights of the film were sold for 3.3 crores. The Telugu dubbed version of the film was released on 25 January 2015. About the Film Karthi plays the role of a thief who comes across a murder case that he takes it up to find the real culprit. However, in the search he comes across two police officers that have no knowledge of his real profession and as a result he is forced to try and unravel their story. The film also stars Ramya Shankar and Rahul Dev in supporting roles. Karthi and Ramya Shankar were paired for the first time in an official film, following their previous collaboration in Pandiya Naadu (2013). Prior to that, Karthi had portrayed her character's husband in the 2010 Telugu comedy film Pelli Choopulu. The film's director and producer Balu Mahendra also played the role of the father-in-law of Karthi's character. Thalaimuraigal is the first film of director Balu Mahendra after his return to Tamil cinema after 10 years. He directed two films for his friend P. Vasu - Gundello Godavari (2007) and Chekka Chivantha Vaanam (2010). Apart from shooting his first official film, Balu also focused on the film's music, while the film's title song was choreographed by Yuvan Shankar Raja.
