In these experiments, we demonstrate that ependymomas in children express EGFR and EGFR signaling is required for the viability of these tumors in vitro. EGFR blockade with cetuximab, an antibody that binds to the extracellular domain of the EGFR and inhibits receptor signaling, was also found to inhibit the proliferation of ependymoma cells.
