Robert J. Skinner II is a Northern California financial executive who guides IEQ Capital as co-CEO, and meets the portfolio management needs of business owners, families of high net worth, and institutional investors. Robert J. Skinner II’s career extends to the late 1990s, when he was a member of the Fidelity Investments team before accepting a role as first vice president of investment with Merrill Lynch.
In 2008, Mr. Skinner struck out on his own though co-establishing the registered investment advisory (RIA) firm Luminous Capital. Guiding portfolio construction and investment research at Luminous, he had expanded the managed asset base to $5.5 billion when First Republic Bank acquired the firm for $125 million four years later. At the time he and two partners established IEQ Capital in 2019, the portfolio under management had grown to $14 billion. His present firm continues to achieve exceptional performance, with Barron’s selecting IEQ Capital as among “America's Top RIA Firms” of 2020.
Beyond his professional responsibilities, Mr. Skinner is a board member of the Pebble Beach Company Foundation, as well as The First Tee of Monterey County. Active with his alma mater as a University of Connecticut Foundation board member, Robert J. Skinner II also serves on the institution’s investment committee.
