expand my knowledge and skillset through education and new extra-

I am a second year student from Bournemouth studying Criminology
and Sociology at The University Of The West of England (UWE) in

norms of modern society means this course is a great fit, and i am
hoping to accompany this with a work placement that suits my career
aspirations.

Work Experience

Research Assistant  •  Bristol Black Seeds

January 2021 - Present

I am currently volunteering for an organisation called Bristol Black Seeds. In this role I am responsible for developing a report on BAME owned/led ethical businesses within Bristol to raise their profile and create better links within the sustainability sector. Hopefully this will lead to more opportunities for innovation, and help the sustainability sector be more reflective of Bristol’s communities.

Research Assistant  •  Bristol Reconnect

December 2020 - Present

Reconnect is a consultancy that provides advice, training and supervision, and conducts research in the domestic violence sector. In my role I am focused on assessing the client engagement skills of staff. An example of some responsibilities I have include creating an interactive survey that involves video vignettes of actors playing clients, followed by questions that staff answer about how they would respond to this client. This is conducted through a program called Lime survey and is an increasingly useful skill in the Covid-19 'era' and its subsequent shift towards online-based employment and communication.

I was also responsible for distributing equipment for the many facilities on site including for example the golf course. I was also expected to: be on call to rescue customers who had got lost along the river, sell tickets in one of the many ticket booths, and help out in the on-site café when they needed assistance.
