Samir Saini is an accomplished IT professional who has held a variety of leadership positions in both the public and private spheres. He most recently served as the IT Commissioner and Chief Information Officer (CIO) for the city of New York. Throughout his two decades of experience in the industry, Samir Saini has received a variety of accolades, including being named as one of GovTech Magazine’s Top 25 Doers, Dreamers & Drivers 2017.
Mr. Saini first entered the profession after graduating cum laude from the New Jersey Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. During his time at the school, he was Vice President of Chi Epsilon, the college’s Civil Engineering Honor Society.
After graduating from the institute, Samir Saini held a variety of leadership positions with the Atlanta-based General Electric Company, eventually serving as ERP Director for GE Energy Services, a $25B business unit of GE. Following this, he worked for MGM Resorts International and served as its Vice President of Corporate Systems for all 17 hotel-casinos under the MGM Resorts portfolio.
Mr. Saini became the Chief Information Officer for the City of Atlanta in 2014, where he was responsible for all IT products and services across 30 agencies and Hartsfield Jackson Int'l Airport, ranked the busiest airport in the world. Following this role, he transitioned into a new role as IT Commissioner and CIO for New York City for a year and hlaf.
Samir is currently an urban technology advisor for a large private equity/VC firm in NYC supporting the growth of high-potential start-ups in the US market.
