Bon Secours Richmond Health System – Richmond, VA2004 to 2005
Director of Hospice
Responsible for revitalizing a hospital system-based hospice (Richmond’s oldest and only non-profit) in turmoil with no infrastructure, vision, strategic plan and the census had little or no growth over the previous 5 years. Implemented an effective strategic plan to not only grow the hospice, but to make it one of the hospitals systems most mission based and to have one of the highest margins. Passed our JCAHO survey that fall. Instituted cost savings with productivity standards and cutting down the overtime in 6 months from over 8% OT to 1.1% at last analysis. Worked with the hospitals Palliative Care department to strengthen the relationship with hospice. Added key positions like clinical operations manager, admission nurses, intake liaison at the hospital, and community educators.
