Shalom Lamm

Military Historian and Lecturer

A resident of West Hempstead in Long Island, New York, Shalom Lamm has been buying and selling real estate for decades. As the managing member of Lion and Lamm Development and the principal owner of several other businesses, he acquired, financed, rehabilitated, and/or sold more than 9,800 apartment units and spearheaded the construction of thousands of homes. Shalom Lamm’s areas of expertise encompass all aspects of real estate business strategies and operations.

In addition to his work in the real estate sector, Shalom Lamm is a military historian with an MA with honors in US military history from American Military University in Manassas, Virginia. Exploring his interest in the ethics of war, he wrote the article Purity of Arms - A Critical Evaluation, which was published in the Journal of International Security Affairs. In his capacity as board member of the Jewish Institute of National Security Affairs, he traveled to military installations in Germany and Spain, as well as a special forces training center in North Carolina. Also an experienced lecturer on military history, Mr. Lamm served as the scholar in residence at the National Convention of US Armed Forces Jewish Chaplains.

The study of military history involves detailed operational studies. It requires looking at the impact of war in society as people know it today. It takes a look at how the wars of the past have led to the development of institutions and governments. It also studies the evolution of warfare technology. Ultimately, military history seeks to analyze how wars, as the biggest test of mankind, have shaped societies and individuals over time. Shalom is involved in practical historic research on WWII soldiers KIA in Europe and Asia, where he is actively working to be certain historic markers accurately reflect the heroic deeds of those the markers seek to commemorate.
